Early Life
Carlos Alcaraz Garfia was born on the 5th of May, 2003 in El Palmar, Murcia, Spain. He has three siblings.
Career
Garfia started playing Tennis at a very tender age at the Real Sociedad Club de Campo de Murcia. It was easy for him to pick an interest in the club since his father was the tennis academy director at the time.
Later in 2018, he started playing at Juan Carlos Ferrero’s Equelite JC Ferrero Sport Academy. He however made his professional (ATP) debut in 2020 at the age of 16 at the Rio Open when he received a wildcard for the singles main draw. Although he defeated Albert Ramos Viñolas, he was ultimately defeated by Federico Coria in the second round.
In 2021, Alcaraz qualified for the main draw of the Australian Open at the age of 17. He thus became the youngest participant in the men’s singles. He also won his Grand Slam debut after defeating Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets, he however lost the second round.
